Global Knowledge Partnership’s Executive Committee Chair Walter Fust said, ‘GKP has always believed that development is not a one-way North to South process. Development takes place simultaneously at many levels and across many dimensions. We believe that sustainable and equitable development can only be achieved through the sharing of knowledge and the building of partnerships across sectors.’

He went on to explain: ‘The experience of developing countries in using ICT for development can actually benefit developed countries, particularly in addressing the challenge of social-economic inclusion.
Social-economic inclusion is a problem that is shared across nations today, regardless of economic status. We are pleased that so many countries, including Malaysia, are giving their full support to achieving our vision: of “A world of equal opportunities for all people to have access to and use knowledge and information to improve their lives”.
Broken into four key Plenary sessions, including a cross cutting plenary, with over 60 expert panels and workshops, GK3 will initiate interactive debates about the latest trends, innovations and future perspectives for global development.
GK3 Highlights
Emerging People Plenary on “New Jobs and Employment Opportunities” which features key representatives from government, private and public sectors and international organisations, will explore ways in which new ICT industries, skills and competencies generate entrepreneurial capacities, and employment opportunities for the future.
Emerging Markets Plenary on “Is There a Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid?” features corporate personalities from Microsoft, Intel, Alcatel, iMallsGlobal and BSL Holdings in an open dialogue on how private sector venturing into emerging markets is facilitating the inclusion of women and young people and others at the ‘bottom of the pyramid’ in the digital economy.
Emerging Technologies Plenary on ‘The Future of the Internet: Opportunities and Risks’ will gather ICT experts to discuss how the Internet will change in the future, how it will impact the way we live; what may be the nature of those changes; and whether a second Internet will emerge? Will future Internet developments become a source of new divisions or a bridge between existing ones?
